Join our Perturbo workshop on September 18-19, 2025 at Caltech and via Zoom. Everyone is welcome!

Dear Colleagues,

We are excited to announce the 2025 workshop on the PERTURBO code, a state-of-the-art package for first-principles calculations of electron-phonon and related interactions, electronic and spin transport, and nonequilibrium dynamics.

The workshop will be held on September 18-19, 2025 in person at Caltech, in Pasadena, and will also be available remotely via Zoom. Please forward this opportunity to interested students and postdocs in your group. They can register for the workshop using this Google form.

The deadlines to register are August 20 for the in-person workshop and September 10 to attend on Zoom. Note that the in-person workshop is capped at 40 participants. Registrants to the in-person workshop should provide a CV and a motivation statement in the form. We will select and notify in-person attendees; those not selected will be automatically registered for the Zoom workshop. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer financial support to attend the workshop at Caltech.

The workshop will cover the following topics:

  • Theory of electron-phonon (e-ph) interactions and transport / ultrafast dynamics in the Boltzmann equation framework and beyond.
  • Code download, build and setup (CPU and GPU). Interfaces with other codes and postprocessing with Perturbopy.
  • Tutorials and hands-on sessions: calculations of e-ph matrix elements and scattering rates; electronic (magneto)transport and spin relaxation times; nonequilibrium electron dynamics and ultrafast spectroscopies; spectral functions in the cumulant framework.
  • Advanced topics and recent developments, including: e-ph interactions in the presence of anharmonic phonons, polarons, excitons, spin-orbit coupling, and strong correlations; compression and data-driven methods.
